Job Description

SheFinds Media is looking for a speedy Staff Writer to join our editorial team. The position is on a contract basis for the first 90 days, with the opportunity to become full-time (with benefits) after that.

Are you a talented, passionate writer who wants to inspire women to live their best lives? SheFinds is seeking a Staff Writer to join their team and cover a range of women's lifestyle topics daily from celebrity news, fashion finds, beauty, wellness, and life hacks.

Candidates should have previous editorial internships and/or entry-level positions and writing clips.

We only consider qualifying candidates who are US citizens residing in one of the following states - Connecticut, Florida, New York, or Pennsylvania.

The Staff Writer will:

  • Write 8+ posts a day on topics including wellness, beauty, fashion, celebrity, tech, food, and other women's lifestyle topics.
  • Pitch stories and take assignments from editors.
  • File short (1 hr) and long (1 wk) lead stories with compelling copy, clever web-friendly headlines, and arresting images.
  • Monitor story performance (clicks and social engagement).
  • Create custom content for specific referral sources and traffic partners.
  • Monitor weekly top content using Google Analytics and pitch new stories accordingly.

Staff Writer Responsibilities

  • Thoroughly research assigned subject matter
  • Conduct interviews with any relevant sources
  • Write clear and concise articles, blog posts, etc.
  • Proofread and edit your work
  • Work closely with editors to make necessary changes
  • Stay knowledgeable on current events
  • Establish and maintain relationships with media/PR professionals
  • Attend meetings to receive new assignments

Staff Writer Requirements

  • Relevant experience as a Staff Writer, Journalist, or similar position
  • BA/BS in journalism, communications, or related field
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Advanced editing skills
  • Portfolio preferred but not required
  • Must be a resident of Connecticut, Florida, New York, or Pennsylvania
